The greatly anticipated arrival of Aspyn came in May. Before that it was pretty much thinking about her, planning for her and waiting anxiously for April 25th to come (her due date). To keep our minds busy and our hearts from exploding we found projects and chores to fill the time. Beau created a line of hair accessories in his leather shop, we joked about calling them Beau's Bows, but the name is still open for suggestions if you have any!
Thank you to +Josie Comp for being our beautiful hair model.
The family cows kept us busy, driving up to Sage Hen Flats to break ice and make sure everyone was on the right side of the fence.

There was A LOT of ice to break.

There was A LOT of ice to break.
I would get out and waddle down the road a little ways to get my exercise while Kix and Tuff made sure it was safe.
Kix would sniff,
and Tuff would patrol the perimeter.
We would see the Sage Hens, that the flat was named after, and also a heard of very, very furry antelope. The colder it gets, the more fur they grow, especially on their hind quarters. I called them 'Fuzzy Butts'.
The cows were fed one ton bails so Beau would "take [me] for a ride on [his] big [blue] tractor" until the bouncing started to bother too much, then I would just perch on the top and watch him work, again kept company by our faithful Heelers.
When we weren't doing chores we would go for a drive down River Lane, just to see what we could see.
So many beautiful birds live in Panguitch during the winter. This one is a Bald Eagle
And this muskrat... at least that is our best guess as to what it is.
Finally in March, Dr. Sanders told us to get our overnight bag packed because if labor were to start, they wouldn't stop it. So be ready, it could be any day now. March AND April were the longest two months of our lives. We scrambled to finish the bedroom and prepare the crib. We inherited the crib my siblings and I slept in as a baby. It is also the crib my father and his siblings slept in. My Grandpa made it and Aspyn is the eleventh baby to sleep in it.
It had been in storage since Josie stopped sleeping in it so it needed a good scrub down. Then we carefully taped over the pictures my Mom painted for her babies and gave it a new coat of paint.
Then Beau added a new painting for Aspyn.
And then it was back to waiting. Beau his the numbers to his cell, work, the office of the trail rides (which had istructions to contact him by radio in case he were to be deep in the canyon) all around the house with instructions for Pops or me to call him immediately if contractions started.
